Since the official unemployment rate only includes people out of a job (full time or part time) who are actively looking work – some economists say it doesn’t give the full picture.  of potential workers out of work – or out of full time employment. The Department of Labor tracks two other sets of stats that includes “marginally attached workers,” that is people out of a job who aren’t actively looking but say they “are available for a job and have looked for work sometime in the recent past” – as well as part-time workers.
